Dealing With Heroin Addiction & Finding Heroin Recovery

Heroin Addiction Treatment – Finding Help at Morningside Recovery

Morningside Recovery discusses heroin addiction & treatment

Dealing with heroin addiction and finding heroin recovery is extremely important since heroin is the most highly addictive drug there is out there. To make matters worse,  addiction to Heroin, or diacetylmorphine is on the rise.  Being addicted to heroin can wreak havoc on any person who uses it as well as cause many difficulties for the communities or towns where the drug is used and sold. Morningside Recovery understands this problem and is working together with experts to address and combat this epidemic. Authorities all over are facing a huge outbreak and have seen the number of those dealing heroin as well as the number of users rise quite significantly lately. One of the biggest concerns for many is the rise in teen drug abuse for heroin.

Heroin is found in the plant opium poppy.  There are several names heroin is known for such as ‘smack, horse, H, morphine diacetate, brown, dope, black, diamorphine and some others. Just like cocaine addiction, heroin can take over a person’s life and destroy it completely. Morningside Recovery experts and doctors use these facts and statistics to help them gain better awareness into the drug problem which they implement in their inpatient drug rehab programs.  Here is a recent video which came out on the news regarding the rise and increasing problem the police, community and those addicted to heroin are facing.

Dealing With Heroin Addiction & Finding Heroin Recovery

There are several ways to use heroin once a person begins to abuse the dope. Most begin by inhaling, sniffing it (just like cocaine) or smoking it. Most users will then graduate to injecting it directly into their veins which causes an increase in the feeling of euphoria and high. However, shooting heroin ends up causing many problems for the addict, increases the addiction and opens the door to catching and spreading other diseases such as HIV and hepatitis via needle sharing.

heroin addiction symptoms & treatment at Morningside Recovery

Any dependency can be hard on the user as well as their family members or loved ones. This is why dealing with heroin addiction and finding heroin recovery can end up meaning the difference between life and death for some in numerous cases. Just like other substances, heroin can destroy a person not only mentally and emotionally but also physically. The heroin effects can be disturbing once a person is addicted completely. Those who use the drug for a few years have seen their teeth completely fall out, their bones become weak as well as experience of kidney and other organ failures.

There are several signs of a heroin addict which you should be aware of and/or on the lookout for if you suspect someone you care about or know is using. These include symptoms of heroin withdrawal or mannerisms during usage.

  • Constantly being hard to find or spending time “out” without reason
  • Dozing off as if falling in and out of sleep
  • Diminished  or lack of participation in work or school
  • Vomiting, shaking and restlessness (during withdrawal or in need for a fix)
  • Decrease in personal hygiene; not showering or changing clothes as much.
  • constricted or “pinpoint” pupils
  • Not having money all the time or unexplained expenditures

See the short term & long term effects of heroin addiction

If you know someone that has begun to use heroin or suspect a person of heroin addiction then  do not wait until they become completely dependent before seeking help. The longer you wait, the more dangerous and harder it will become for them to stop using the drug. Also, it can end up killing you or the addict faster than any other drug out there; especially once the user begins shooting it or injecting it into their veins. The reason for this is because during this phase is when most of the drug overdoses occur. Dealing with heroin addiction and finding heroin recovery is something that should be done immediately. Morningside Recovery can help. You can read more on The Dangers of Addiction in this article.

Brain of Borderline Personality Disorder Patient

Characteristics of Borderline Personality Disorder Symptoms

Narcissistic Personality Disorder Treatment – Morningside Recovery

Morningside Recovery Examines Obsessive Compulsive Disorder

We’ve all heard of “borderline personality disorder treatment.” What is the disorder, and what are the characteristics of borderline personality disorder symptoms? Morningside Recovery and other mental health clinics treat this problem every day. However, it’s not such an easy one to understand.

First of all, borderline personality disorder (BPD) does have a confusing name. The real illness doesn’t always include a second “personality” that a person switches into. That type of problem is often part of “multiple personality disorder.” But BPD can be just as severe. The main symptom is emotional overreaction to the highs and lows of life. A promotion at work may make someone with BPD absolutely thrilled. Other changes in life, such as the loss of a distant friend, may cause major depression. These extreme reactions to normal changes in life can be dangerous. Those with BPD often become prone to self-harm and even suicide due to these mood swings. Therefore BPD is one of the more serious psychological disorders, along with things like chronic major depression and paranoid schizophrenia. Clinics such as Morningside Recovery are needed to identify characteristics of borderline personality disorder symptoms. Morningside Recovery has experts available to help you with cognitive behavioral therapy if needed. There are many other illnesses out there. You can find a complete Mental Diseases List here.

Mental health is important for everyone, but for those with BPD, it’s especially important. Controlling life situations, to avoid immense emotional trauma, is important. But so is getting real treatment to correct or at least understand the root of the problem. The disorder often looks like bipolar disorder. And it demonstrates general symptoms of depression. So it takes a true expert to accurately diagnose and help someone deal with BPD. A personality disorder test is often used in the diagnosis. You can check out What Is Cognitive Behavior Therapy? for further insight.

If you or someone you know needs borderline personality disorder treatment, be sure to find a licensed clinic such as Morningside Recovery that you can trust. Morningside Recovery Treating Masturbation Addiction

Morningside Recovery is Southern California’s leading rehabilitation center, which provides specific treatments that cover the entire spectrum of addictions, which includes the gamut of sex addictions. Morningside Recovery recently made headlines with a survey they conducted on the specific sex addiction of maladaptive and chronic masturbation.

The survey entitled “Excessive Masturbation: Do you have a Hand up on the Average American?” question 1,100 men and women between ages 21 and 35.

Read a portion of the survey results from counselheal.com below:

Excessive Masturbation May Put Your Relationship at Risk

Makini Brice

March 5, 2013

“…According to the study, 20.4 percent of respondents masturbated three times a day or more. Meanwhile, 48 percent of respondents believed that their masturbation frequency was below average, 45.4 percent thought that they masturbated on an average basis and 6 percent believed that they masturbated more often than average. 45.4 percent of respondents believed that masturbation could lead to problems in their relationship. Of the respondents, 18.3 percent said that they were extremely or very ashamed of their habit, while 23.8 percent said that they were slightly or somewhat ashamed of their masturbation.

“I think the most interesting part of the survey is that 20.4% of respondents masturbate 3 or more times per day. That’s a high number of respondents, and that amount of masturbation could cause serious problems in a relationship, especially if it interferes with either person’s ability to experience pleasure with a partner,” Dr. Elizabeth Waterman, a psychologist at Morningside Recovery, said in a statement. “This is precisely why we found it important to survey the average American and come to an overall conclusion that excessive Masturbation is overlooked in addiction recovery…”

Morningside Recovery basis their treatment approach on the belief that each addiction is unique. Effective treatment requires a sensitive understanding of the addiction and the individual who struggles with it. This survey helps better equip Morningside to offer such effective treatment. Those who feel that they may be struggling with an addiction to masturbation or those who feel they are in a relationship strained by addiction to masturbation can contact Morningside Recovery for help.

The Dangers of Facebook Addiction

Overcoming Facebook Addiction – Morningside Recovery

Read all about the dangers of Facebook addiction

The dangers of Facebook addiction are many and Morningside Recovery is taking the time to analyze this problem in this article. Facebook: almost everyone uses it these days, from teenagers to middle-aged adults. Even young children and older senior citizens are logging on. With such a popular appeal, this revolutionary way of connecting people has led to some abuse. Some check it far too frequently, which allows it to interfere with their social lives, ability to focus, self-esteem and overall mental health. Some people may ask that is Facebook addiction real or just a fad? Is it something you can in fact become addicted to? The answer is alarming and simply YES!

Am I addicted to Facebook?” This is a common question, especially among teens, and it’s an important one. Treatment centers such as Morningside Recovery often recommend quitting the practice “cold turkey” if it interferes too much with real life. Eventually, some people start to care more about Facebook “friends” than real relationships, and the results can be disastrous. There are many Facebook addiction signs to be on the lookout for. Being more interested in interacting with people on your Facebook rather than the ones you know for real is just one of them. As humans, we are social creatures. Without meaningful, physical interaction with other people, we cannot maintain a proper level of mental health. Spending time on Facebook may give someone a sense of connection with others, but in the long run, relying on these interactions can be very dangerous. Often, it’s necessary to contact a treatment center such as Morningside Recovery, a psychologist or other addiction specialist. The dangers of Facebook addiction should not be underestimated.

The typical Facebook addict is often unaware that he or she uses the website too much. This person may check a Smartphone for Facebook updates during college or high school classes, at important work presentations, or even when interacting with loved ones. These types of antisocial behavior tend to escalate and lead to a disconnectedness that hurts relationships over time. It is important to seek real help if you suspect an addiction to Facebook, even though this may sound strange to those who think the it’s harmless or just a fun waste of time.

Are the dangers of Facebook Addiction real? - Morningside Recovery

 The Dangers of Facebook Addiction

Facebook addiction statistics are startling. Over the past few years, even before the company went public, user activity on the site was much higher than any other site on the Web. Many users log up to five or more hours a day browsing Facebook. This is an unhealthy amount of time that signals a real addiction. More and more people are succumbing to the temptation of browsing “friends” and their online activities rather than living real life. You can also read People Addicted to Facebook to be more informed on this subject.

Are you addicted to Facebook? - Morningside Recovery

As part of the treatment process, Morningside Recovery and other treatment centers may isolate the individual away from the Internet, so that Facebook and other time-wasters are no longer a temptation. Like most things in the world, Facebook is acceptable in moderation but extremely unhealthy when used far too much. The dangers of Facebook addiction can be devastating, so focus on the real world and maintain responsible social media usage.

Bipolar Disorder Treatment Tips

Bipolar Disorder Treatment Tips - Morningside Recovery

Bipolar disorder hurts millions of Americans. Yet even in 2013, some don’t know what it is. Many think that it is just depression. But it is a complex problem with many treatments. Counselors at Morningside Recovery and other clinics have been treating the issue for decades.

The truth of bipolar disorder is that it is its own mental illness. Like other mental health problems, it affects the life of the person in a big way. The word “bipolar” means two poles, or two extremes. The person has “mania,” an energetic feeling, part of the time. Note that this is not always a happy state. It can be a very nervous one. When not “manic,” the person is often depressed. This switch can be frequent and painful.

The Brain & Bipolar Disorder - Morningside Recovery

Bipolar Disorder Treatment Tips From Morningside Recovery

Morningside Recovery also notes that bipolar disorder often is not diagnosed. Many people think they are “fine” with these extremes, and many friends think so too. But periods of depression can lead to poor decisions and failure to keep up with daily life. They can even lead to suicide. So it’s wise to seek help if you or someone you know may be bipolar.

This mental illness has become more common in recent decades. Some mental illnesses have become less common. While experts aren’t sure why, the stress of the 21st century and late 20th century is part of the problem. With the Internet, the mobile phone, and so on, we are always tied to many stimuli. Getting away or feeling like oneself can be a real chore.

Bipolar Disorder Causes - Morningside Recovery

Bipolar disorder is a serious disorder, and so is the treatment. It generally involves long sessions of counseling. But it can proceed at the pace that is best for the individual. Be sure to get help today if you or someone you know might have this disorder. A life could be on the line, or at least someone’s happiness.

Acting “compulsively” means that the person becomes preoccupied with issues of little importance. This obsessive disorder is a major problem for many Americans and can affects any one from a young child to a senior citizen, note specialists at Morningside Recovery. Does Your Loved One Have An Addiction?

How To Help a Loved One With Addiction

Does Your Loved One Have An Addiction?

Today, Morningside Recovery is posting a question many people are sometimes afraid to ask or admit to: Does Your Loved One Have An Addiction? No one likes to have to admit that they know that a loved one has a substance abuse problem, or even a compulsion for certain behaviors. Sometimes, it’s just an aching suspicion that you have. Other times, the signs of addiction are as obvious as the day is long. If you feel that your loved one needs to address their issues, and if you want to help them change, it’s a good idea to consider the following steps as a guide.

1      Look for signs of addiction. Does your loved one display a need to use certain substances? Has the quality of his or her life deteriorated because of their love of a certain activity or drug? Has your loved one started to push away old friends and family due to their use? Has your loved one become more secretive? If so, your loved one may have an addiction. Remember – addiction isn’t always a substance. Look at these common addictions for examples of other ways a person can be an addict and what affect it can have in this article 5 Addictions Secretly Straining Relationships

2      See how severe the signs of addiction are. There are, in some very rare cases, people who see signs of addiction when there really is no addiction to be seen. You need to make sure that you aren’t making up things in your mind, and you also need to make sure that your loved one actually does need help. The more worrying the signs, the more urgent it is that they seek help. After all, it is possible to have managed substance use (such as a drink per week) without it becoming an addiction. Here are some signs that their substance use or their behavior is getting out of control: You can also use this as a reference to help illustrate to your loved one that they may need help. An intervention is supposed to be a wake up call to the person with the problem that should help spark them into seeking help. Talking to a counselor at Morningside can be the best way to go about setting up an intervention, especially since it is one of our specialties. Check out intervention information here:

Sometimes, it can take an intervention or even hitting a major event in order to realize that an addiction is taking over one’s life. Mental Diseases List

Morningside Recovery Examines the Mental Diseases List

Complete Mental Diseases List Found Here - Morningside Recovery

Morningside Recovery and its professional staff have put together a Mental Diseases list to help people be aware of them and/or determine whether or not they or someone they know has any of the symptoms present for any of these diseases.  There are many people who want to know whether they or their loved ones have a true mental illness and with such list in place, it is easier to find out. A mental diseases list can help you to discover whether real symptoms are present. A trusted clinic or facility, such as Morningside Recovery, is the best way to diagnose an illness. However, it can be wise to first take a look at a list and see if your (or your loved one’s) symptoms seem to match.

Here’s a brief part of the mental diseases list:

1. Alcohol dependence – a major problem for many, which can cause crippling or life-threatening cravings and changes in the body.

2. Anxiety disorder – symptoms include nervousness and a tendency to avoid all social situations.

3. Autism – a major disorder that impairs learning, speech, and social functioning, especially common among children of the last few generations.

4. Depression – symptoms include avoidance of social situations, a general lack of interest in life, and thoughts of suicide.

5. Schizophrenia – not always the “multiple personality” problem many think it is–that’s Multiple Personality Disorder! Schizophrenia comes with a feeling of “being in your own head” and often intense paranoia and disconnectedness from the world.

6. Alzheimer’s – symptoms include the slow degradation of memory and functioning; this commonly affects the elderly population.

7. Attention Deficit Disorder – a serious disease that can cripple a child’s (or adult’s) ability to focus and learn.

8. Agoraphobia – fear of open spaces and being out of the house.

9. Bipolar disorder – a tendency to shift from happiness or high energy (mania) to depression and lack of interest in things.

10. Dysthymia – a low-level form of depression that affects many people.

Keep an eye out for these symptoms in yourself and your loved ones and friends. Depression, for instance, is extremely common these days, and symptoms of depression vary from person to person. Therefore, be sure to narrow things down according to the symptoms. If you think you or a loved one may have depression, head to a psychologist, medical doctor, or treatment center such as Morningside Recovery right away. Depression tends to get worse over time, and can be life-threatening.

Examining and browsing through the entire  mental diseases list will help you be better informed about the illnesses which could affect you or a loved at any time.  Other major types of illnesses to review include personality disorder and obsessive compulsive disorder. Obsessive compulsive disorder, or OCD, is extremely common these days, given the anxiety we all tend to feel in the hustle and bustle of life in the 21st century. Be sure that you or your loved one is checked out by a true professional if certain symptoms seem common. Examples are repeating certain actions a set number of times, a need to be “in control” of small things that don’t matter, or other such “obsessive” behaviors.
